What is a quality review?
A good review shouldn’t be about just glorifying a brand or a product.
Positive opinions are what every brand should aim for, no doubt, however, there’s a thin line between overpraising, which may often seem a bit too good to be true, and sharing honest and unbiased experiences.
Ultimately reviews are meant to create transparency between a business and a customer and help people make informed decisions, so no detail too small.
Why do people read reviews?
There are several reasons why people read business and product reviews:
To learn if the brand is reliable and has a good reputation
To find out if the product or service is right for them
To learn the pros and cons of the brand or product
To find out more about the quality of the product/service
To read other users’ experiences
To see if the product is worth buying
With these in mind, let’s see how a proper review should be written.

Writing a quality review entails a few parameters: relevant details, sincerity, and proper language.
Here are 5 cool tips you should follow if you want to produce a kick-ass review:
1. Include relevant details
And leave out unnecessary ones. Which review is more likely to help you make a good decision? A trimmed one-liner, or a detailed experience?
People identify with a well-told situation that includes relevant and accurate specifics. Information can easily transform a mediocre review into a really helpful one with details like dates, location, products, shipping, staff, etc. Why, when, where. How fast was the service? Was the shipment on time or delayed? Was the product available? How helpful was the customer support in assisting you? Things like that matter for the next shopper.
On the other hand, specifying the weather conditions that day or what you were wearing may not be as relevant to others reading your review. Trim out the fat. Focus on the core.
2. Be sincere
Remember your review is just your experience. Research shows that people tend to write reviews when the experience they have strikes an emotional chord. If they had a negative experience, they will want to vent anger and frustration, if they had a positive experience, they'll express words of kindness and recommendation on a business.
Whether we write something out of outrage or contentment, we often tend to overdo it a little, which may spring an exaggerated review.
If you had a wonderful experience, a disappointing one, or somewhere in between, share it with pure authenticity. Overpraising a business might sound a bit far-fetched while vindictive expressions are no better.
3. Use a proper language
Using the right words and keeping the right tone will refine every review, good and bad. You can be as honest as you can be, as detailed as you can be, however, if you’re using profanity, immodest and irreverent words, curses and such, you’ll lose any credibility as a reviewer, to say the least, and intrigue false reactions, not to mention, you’ll show immaturity and lack of imagination.
You’d want your review to be useful to the people right behind you. Not sure what to write? Take a few minutes and organize your thoughts. Try not to write when you’re raged or stressed-out. Check your spelling and grammar, write complete sentences and give exclamation points a rest.
4. Stand out from the crowd
Think of the massive number of reviews some companies get, make yours stand out. What for? When people like reading your reviews, they’ll never doubt your veracity, and will probably trust every word you say. This is a sure pass to becoming a proper influencer. Readers will start following you, like and comment your reviews and may even ask additional questions about your experience.
Moreover, you’ll be getting the attention of the brands you review. Businesses will show much more interest in you if they see you have a large review base, readers, and engagement. It’s a wonderful opportunity for you to level up and become a brand ambassador. That is, of course, if you make sure to follow the previous tips of including relevant details, maintaining honesty and using proper language & tone.
5. Apply pros and cons
Every good review should include pros and cons. It shows you are being objective when writing your review.
If you had a good experience, listing the pros is probably a lot easier, but mentioning reasonable cons will make your review a more solid one. By all means, do not fake cons just for the sake of writing ones. However, if there are, your job is to make them visible. Mention cons if they are indeed significant for someone else’s experience, such as missing product features, slow shipping, integration issues, the unacceptance of a certain payment method, and so on.
